Facilities Manager


Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, in Richmond, VA is seeking a full-time Facilities Manager, serving a parish of 2,800 households and a school serving 430 students. Facilities include the 100,000+ sf church and school building/grounds and the rectory.


The facilities manager is responsible for the management of building operations (including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and safety/energy systems), capital improvement planning, asset replenishment and grounds maintenance. The manager is responsible for ensuring the applicable Diocesan and facilities policies and standards are implemented and followed.


The manager will collaborate closely with the Pastor, School Principal and the Director of Finance and Development. The manager oversees external vendors including maintenance, janitorial, grounds and other consultants as needed. The position is responsible for the preparation and management of operating budgets and capital budgets. 


A degree in facilities management, engineering, administration or another related field and/or equivalent work experience is required. In addition, knowledge of facilities management systems including HVAC systems, security systems, camera and door access systems is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent project management and communications skills. Preference will be given to practicing Catholics in good standing, but all candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church.


The selected candidate must be able to pass all background screenings required for parish and school staff. This position is full-time and exempt from the overtime/timekeeping provisions of the FLSA and may include weekend hours. Salary is based on applicable experience.

Director of Youth Ministry (Youth Minister)


Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, in Richmond, VA, is seeking a full-time Director of Youth Ministry (Youth Minister), serving a parish of 2800 households, with approximately 75 confirmands each year.


The Director will develop and implement a comprehensive ministry program for the youth (grades 7-12) of the parish church and school community. This includes faith formation, evangelization, sacrament preparation, justice and service, and community building activities. The Director will plan and implement a curriculum in consultation with the pastor. They will lead the Confirmation preparation process. The youth minister will be responsible to recruit, train and supervise program volunteers. They will also create and facilitate leadership opportunities for parish teens post-Confirmation on the parish Youth Leadership Team and other discipleship opportunities. The Director will promote and organize all parish participation in Diocesan youth events and participate with the staff in parish and school activities, as needed. 


A master’s degree is required, preferably in Theology, Ministry, Religious Education, or a related field with three to five years of experience in Youth Ministry, paid or volunteer, is also required. A candidate with a bachelor’s degree and exemplary experience may be considered. The applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, adhere to Catholic teaching, and demonstrate a commitment to the Church.


This position is full-time and exempt from the overtime/timekeeping provisions of the FLSA and will include weekend hours. Pay is commensurate with experience and in keeping with classifications and guidance from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.
